The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera has music written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics written by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe. Lloyd Webber and Stilgoe co-wrote the book. The Phantom of the Opera won a Tony Award for Best Musical in 1988 and is the longest-running show on Broadway.

Wicked

Wicked tells the story of the witches of Oz. It chronicles their unlikely friendship and shows how Elphaba came to become the Wicked Witch of the West. The music and lyrics were written by Stephen Schwartz, and the book was written by Winnie Holzman. The musical is based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which in turn was based on L. Frank Baum’s 1900 story, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. The original Broadway production of Wicked won three Tony Awards and six Drama Desk Awards, and the original cast album won a Grammy.

Cats

Black cats have long been associated with Halloween. You can celebrate the scary holiday by taking in a performance of Cats on Broadway. The musical was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. It tells the story of the Jellicles, a tribe of cats who must choose one of them to ascend to the Heaviside Layer to be reborn. Cats was introduced on Broadway in 1982 and went on to become one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history.

Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios

Cirque du Soleil is popular around the world for its acrobatic performances, music, and colorful costumes. Kurios is a Cirque du Soleil production with a story about a 19th century inventor who creates a machine that can reinvent the world around him. The dark and mysterious world is a departure from the bright worlds created by other Cirque du Soleil performances, which makes Kurios an excellent entertainment choice for Halloween.

Shear Madness

Murder is a common theme in plays and movies around Halloween, but none makes the topic as fun as Shear Madness. This interactive whodunit calls on the audience to help solve a murder at a hair salon where everyone is a suspect. Audience members get to ask questions and vote on who they think is the culprit.
