Award-Winning Musical about the Founding of the United States
Hamilton is a Broadway smash written and composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury, and other Founding Fathers as they work to overcome challenges and create the United States of America. The Tony Award-winning musical is inspired by historian Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton.
Hamilton made its debut off-Broadway in January 2015 at the Public Theater. It moved to Broadway that August with performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. The story is told through songs in a variety of musical genres, including rap, hip hop, jazz, rock, and Broadway.
