Be the First to See the New Hamilton Cast with OnBroadway.com

The cast of Hamilton has undergone significant changes in recent weeks, with several prominent members departing to pursue other projects. Replacements for some cast members were recently announced.

Hamilton Cast Changes

Brandon Victor Dixon, a two-time Tony Award nominee, will begin performing in the role of Aaron Burr in mid-August. The exact date has yet to be announced. Dixon most recently appeared in Shuffle Along on Broadway. Sydney James Harcourt, Austin Smith, and Andrew Chappelle are the current Aaron Burr understudies.

Lexi Lawson will take on the role of Eliza Hamilton starting July 11. Lawson has appeared in touring performances of Rent and In the Heights and will be making her Broadway debut in Hamilton.

Javier Muñoz, who had been alternating in the role of Alexander Hamilton with Miranda, will take over the role full-time on July 11. Michael Luwoye will join the cast as the Alexander Hamilton alternate on the same date. Luwoye has performed off-Broadway in Invisible Thread and will also be making his Broadway debut in Hamilton.

Jon Rua, a Hamilton understudy, left the cast after his final performance on June 29. Writer, star, and Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony winner Leslie Odom Jr., and Tony nominee Phillipa Soo will make their final appearances in Hamilton on July 9. Ensemble member Ariana DeBose will also perform for the last time on that date.

The remaining cast members, including Daveed Diggs, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Christopher Jackson, Okieriete Onaodowan, Anthony Ramos, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Rory O’Malley, Thayne Jasperson, Neil Haskell, and Ephraim Sykes, will remain the same.
